The Open Data Institute — Tom Armitage free lecture

This week we found out about The Open Data Institute in London and its free series of lunchtime lectures! Founded by Sir Tim Berners-Lee the ODI is a catalyser. It pushes forward the evolution of open data culture to create economic, environmental and social value and does so also by creating an open space for conversation, and the generation + dissemination of knowledge to address local and global issues. Particularly interesting are the Friday Lunchtime Lectures, for everyone and free to attend.

This Friday Tom Armitage talked about design with data and the process, or journey, from data to >>>> meaning. Data manifestation as much as experiencing data and telling stories focusing on the process and its little details more than on the tools. You can view his lectures' slides: Spreadsheets and Weathervanes - design with data while listening to Tom himself speaking to the crowd (via ODI podcast).
